For decades, manufacturers competed on production capacity,
quality, and distribution. Today, success is increasingly shaped long before
products leave the factory. For Philippine construction materials manufacturer
CROWN, this shift has inspired a bold transformation: connecting manufacturing,
marketing, sales, and customer engagement through data.
According to Derrick P. Villanueva, president of CROWN, the
goal is not to replace three decades of expertise but to strengthen it.
“For us, digital transformation was never about replacing
what has worked for decades. It was about strengthening our foundation and
ensuring that CROWN remains competitive, resilient, and relevant for the next
generation of customers and partners,”
Villanueva told MARKETING-INTERACTIVE in an interview
To achieve this, CROWN has implemented SAP S/4HANA alongside
proprietary systems (COMSYS, PIPESYS) to integrate procurement, production,
inventory, finance, and distribution. Villanueva highlights that the real
objective is connectivity — ensuring reliable, timely information across
departments to enable faster decisions and more consistent customer
experiences. At the same time, CROWN is evolving its communications strategy,
investing in SEO, webinars, and educational content to position itself as a
trusted technical partner in an increasingly digital marketplace.
Artificial intelligence also plays a central role in CROWN’s long‑term plans. Villanueva pointed that AI is meant to empower people, not replace them, supporting customer engagement, demand forecasting, and executive decision‑making. By its 40th anniversary in 2029, CROWN aims to be one of the Philippines’ leading digitally enabled manufacturers — balancing innovation with the values that have earned customer trust for more than three decades.
